Lost and Found from the Cast Party
The Schimps have a white volleyball and Bradon's black athletic shorts - They will bring them to the Scrapbooking party.
There is also a missing pair of little girl's pink shoes. If anyone accidentally picked these up, please contact the Dederts at (262) 305-1541.
A boys jacket, size 10-12, with Green Packer colors was found left
behind at the cast party. They may call the Weimer's to claim it- (262) 677-3755 .
Scrapbooking
Thanks be to God for a remarkable H.I.S. Player
season! You are ALL invited to scrapbook our memories on Tuesday, May
14th, at Community Church from 1:30-4-30 p.m. Please bring acid free glue sticks, scissors, straight edge cutter(if you own one) and all of your creativity. I
have several pictures from my collection thought out for pages. If you
would like to add to the picture options, please send them to me. I
would also appreciate an e-mail with details of the different projects
that were worked on for this production- a thank you and a memory
especially for the parents (I especially like the personal details, that you think you'll never forget or that the rest of the group doesn't know). I
will print the pictures on my home printer and give you a "theme" for
each page. I will provide the paper and some extras. If you have
inspiration paper, stickers, or other embellishments please bring it
along. Does anyone know how I can use my printer at Community Church?
I'm wireless at home and will probably find it difficult to adapt. I
anticipate that the book will be about 25 pages. I don't know the
printing costs, but traditionally it has been under $20 per book.
Payment due when book is delivered (I expect to see the majority of you
at graduation). Please e-mail me and l let me know if you will be
attending the scrapbooking meeting and if you would like to purchase a
book.

Very Important Reminder
Please remember to destroy your scripts. To follow copyright and Dramatic Publishing wishes - everyone needs to destroy the Ben-Hur script.
Thanks - Mrs. Dauster
Thanks - Mrs. Dauster
Thank you
I wanted to thank you all for the beautiful platter - what a wonderful gift! It was such a joy to be with you all and work on this production together. I truly believe that the more I served - the more I was blessed. I wish I could list everything - big and small that amazed and encouraged me through all the practices and performances. Even the rough spots were good - I know God uses those to refine and grow us. Parents and cast members - you were great to work with this year - thanks for all your hard work. Praise God for perfectly putting us together at this time for this production. What a merciful and gracious God we serve that allows us this much joy!
I am a little sad - it is Monday morning and I am usually getting ready to see your bright and shining faces for practice. But I know God has mine and your next great adventure already planned so here we go! Thanks for letting me work with you all and thanks for being so nice with my little ones - they will miss you all too!

Cracker Barrel
For Families and
members of Cast, Crew, and Alumni of H.I.S. Players
Suggestions for our evening out at Cracker Barrel
Saturday night.
We would love to relax and spend as much time together after
the show as possible at The Cracker Barrel, but we need EVERYBODY's help. Here's what YOU can do.
1.
Check in with Terese Hummel. She will give you your job assignments for breaking
down the set, packing the trailer, and cleaning the church after Saturday
night's performance. Help from cast,
crew, parents and siblings is needed, expected, and appreciated. Many hands make light work.
2.
Read the suggestions below for ordering
at The Cracker Barrel to keep things running as smoothly as possible with a
crowd our size.
3.
Order from the menu we've printed out.
It'll be faster. (You are welcome to
order from the restaurant's regular breakfast or dinner menu – but it may take
longer, etc)
4.
Order as soon as possible with the group
you're with. No need to wait for a table
to fill up. Your server will return to your table to take additional orders as
others arrive.
5.
Stay at your table once you've order so
your server can find you. This isn't a
fast food place.
6.
Pay your bill when you've finished eating. Don't wait until the end of the night,
or you'll be disappointed in the long lines. You can always return to your
table to keep visiting with others.
7.
Tip your server. Show that you appreciate that they are
working hard past the restaurant's closing time (11pm) just to accommodate our
large, chaotic crowd. Tips are NOT
included in your total bill. Tips can be
left on the table or with your bill at the cash register when you pay. This is
your server's main income. Don't forget
them! They've had a long day too.
8.
Continue to be a witness for Christ. Let's leave The Cracker Barrel staff with
positive feelings about H.I.S. Players, homeschoolers, and Christ Followers by
our Godly manners and attitudes.
We can give God the Glory even when we're having fun and
eating!
9.
Enjoy your night! You've all worked hard.
It's time to celebrate a successful season of Ben Hur!
10.
Drive safely home. We look forward to
seeing families of cast and crew at Sunday's cast party.
Cracker Barrel is located at: W176 N9778 Rivercrest Drive,
Germantown. It's just one block north of
Hwy Q (County Line Road) and just east of Hwy 41/43 behind McDonald's and Super
8 Motel.
Blessings,
Ann Guagliardo,
Member of H.I.S. Players and
new Cracker Barrel server

Birthday Thanks
Thanks so much to you all for making my birthday a special one. The brownies were delicious. The basketball song was fantastic, especially in a toga! And thank you so much for the wonderful gift of a diffuser and oil. I am truly blown away by your generosity. I had been wanting a diffuser for several months, but was so caught up in directing a play(!) that I never took time to decide and order. Thank you so much for doing that for me. You are all a blessing. It has been a great year.
Cast Party
If you have a large water cooler that could be borrowed for the cast party - please contact Kellie Weimer at Kweimer7@gmail.com. Thanks!

Very Important - Ironers needed
We need at least 8 people to iron costumes after the Dress Rehearsal on Friday - Around 2:00. Please bring your own iron, ironing board, spritzer bottle, and/or starch. We would love to have even more than 8 to get this huge job done quickly. Contact Sara George today!
Bake Sale
Hi everyone,
Just a reminder that we need to prepare for the bake sale next week!
Those families bringing baked goods for Monday's performance - I will be
prepared to take them Monday morning at St. John's or Monday evening when
you bring your children for the performance. Please have them there by 5:30
at the latest.
For all families - Please bring your baked goods either on Friday morning
during set up or when you bring you children for the first performance at
4:00 p.m. We will have a LOT more trays to prepare for this performance and
will need time to get them ready.
PLEASE do not bring me anything early as I do not have freezer or frig space
to store anything.
Also, one of the moms suggested packaging things like banana bread in
individual sandwich bags so it wouldn't dry out. That's just an idea. We
will have places to store everything at Crossway Church which will be a huge
blessing!
Thanks and please call or email me if you have any questions.
It will be a great week! Praying for God's blessings on every detail!!

Please see the first email below with more details.
_____
Hi everyone!
With performances only a week and a half away, it's time to start thinking
about the bake sale! All of the proceeds will go towards H.I.S. Players to
pay for the costs for this year and give us a start for next year.
This year we have a new twist. We will be having FIVE performances where we
can sell baked goods: Hartford High School on Monday night, Wooded Hills on
Wednesday night, and Crossroads on the weekend for three performances. That
means we will need more cookies, bars, and treats than normal.
Here's the plan:
You can make cookies, brownies, bars, banana or pumpkin type breads -
anything that can be eaten without a fork. Another thing would be small
Ziploc bags of puppy chow, homemade Chex mix or something like that. Please
mark your container or pan with your name. Also mark it if what you've made
contains peanuts, peanut butter, or tree nuts.
We are asking all families to bring four dozen cookies, bars, etc per
student (if you have two students involved that would be eight dozen) for
the weekend performances at Crossway Church. Please bring them anytime on
Friday. We will start setting things up in the morning.
For the Monday performance at Hartford H.S. we are asking specific families
to bring another four dozen cookies per student. All families who live north
of West Bend were not asked to distribute posters this year since we live
too far from the public performance in Germantown. Also, there are some
families who have not been very involved in the play up to this point.
Here's our chance to help!! So, to be clear we're asking the following
families to bring 4 dozen cookies per student to the Monday performance at
Hartford and then another 4 dozen per student for the weekend at Crossroads.
Schneiders
Pallos
Vagnini
Nelsons
Dederts
Hawkinsons
Koepkes
Muellers
Sitzmans
Powers
I'm asking these families to bring their cookies on Monday at Hartford High
School. If you need to give them to me in the morning at the St. John's
performance I will be prepared to take them then. We will use whatever is
left at Wooded Hills on Wednesday night.
Let me know if you have any questions or problems.
Looking forward to BEN HUR!!
Cheryl Schneider

Audience (Who should come to what!)
Hello cast,
We are reaching that big day - opening show. So here are some guidelines to tell your adoring family and fans.
We could use some adults at our Friday dress rehearsal. Starting time will be about noon. Please only adults and not children. I would like to give the cast an idea of what reactions will be. We only have that row of bench seats, so let me know who is coming - we can probably seat a dozen or so.
St John's: No extra family members should come to St Johns. Mothers who are helping with the show will have seats on the edges.
Hartford, Monday evening: There is a group of churches sponsoring this evening event. We need to make sure that the 200 or so seats are available for those churches and any unchurched visitors they wish to invite. So this is not a good night for homeschoolers in general or for parents of the players to attend. (If it is the ONLY night that grandma and grandpa can come, they may certainly attend.)
Wooded Hills, Wednesday evening: This is a single church event, so this evening is open for parents of the players and Hartford area homeschoolers. It is a small stage and many modifications will need to be made, so we reccommend the CrossWay performances to our cherished parents and followers.
CrossWay, Friday and Saturday: Come one, come all. Just make sure that your family and friends know that on Sat. evening you will be delayed leaving as everyone is required to pack up.
I am proud of you all, Mrs. Wells

NOTES FROM COSTUMING
All Galley Slaves and soldiers
If you have more than one color of compression shorts we want you to use black.
Galley Slaves- tomorrow we will be sewing a strip of fabric to the top of your shorts. So bring a second pair to wear while we are sewing them( if you do not have a second pair of compression shorts just bring your smallest pair of shorts)
Dress Rehearsal Procedures
When you arrive you will take the hanger with the pink tag. This is your first costume. Go to your changing station. Put your street clothes in your back pack, and your costume on. Return your hanger with tag to the rack. Second go to shoes. Once you have your shoes, go to accessories. When you have your costume, shoes, and accessories, your hair has been checked, and your makeup has been checked you come to Costuming to be looked over. You need to be officially "Checked IN" !
Your second, third, etc... costumes will be behind stage. When you take off your first costume hang it on the second hanger with the green tag that has your name on it. When rehearsal is over make sure you have put your costumes back on the right hangers. The tags on the hangers tell you what should be all included on that hanger.
Lastly you will need to bring your costumes to us so we can make sure all your pieces are there. This is called "Checking Out" You need to put your accessories back in there bags on the accessories table, and turn in your shoes. Anyone wearing jewelry in the show: Be extremely careful with your pieces!
Most of them do not belong to HIS Players, they have been graciously lent to us.
Singers!
All singers need to arrive at 11:30 tomorrow, (the 15th), for another session with Mrs. Gibeau.
Wednesday, April 10, 2013

Basic Make-up includes:
Mascara
Foundation
Eyeliner
Blush (Please make sure its natural looking.)
Thank you! See you all Friday.

NOTES FROM COSTUMING
T-Shirts
Everyone need to bring a T-shirt on Monday that can have the neckline cut on it so that it is not seen under your tunic. This T-shirt will be worn every performance under tunics to help absorb perspiration. It will be washed by a volunteer in between performances. Boys don't forget your shorts for Monday!Backpacks
You will need to bring a backpack to every dress rehearsal and performance. Boys that starts for you on Monday and girls, Friday. This backpack is where you keep your "street clothes" while you are in costume. We do not want your clothes laying around in bathrooms. Also you need to have some deodorant in that back pack to put on fresh before your costume. Most of you will be wearing lots of layers and are going to get very warm. We don't want to have to wash costumes after every performance ( if you get my drift.) : )
Costume Changes
This show has lots of costume changes. You need to become familiar with all your costumes and in what scenes you will wear them. Make sure you know how many costumes you have and when you wear them. If you have questions come to costuming and make sure you understand, and have them marked in your script.
Sandals
We still have a few boys who have not found any sandals. Let's help each other out. Stop at second hand shops, ask family and friends. We need size 12, 13, and 14. If you find anything please let us know.
Wednesday, April 3, 2013
Apprentices.
All Apprentices need to arrive at practice at 11:30 on April 8th. We have a lot of ground to cover and need to talk about what we've accomplished and what we still need to work out.
Thank you,
Sarah

Monday, April 8 and performances - Important time message
Hello cast members,
Set up for CrossWay church (report time for all cast) is 4 pm on Friday, April 26.
There are no performances on Tuesday and Thursday of performance week. We almost got in at the Boys and Girls Club, but....
I made a major miscalculation in the amount of time we needed to put together a play with a cast of 45. (It just takes time to move that many people around). We have 2 weeks left and our current rehearsal schedule is not enough time. I will be adding hours here and there and would appreciate you doing whatever you can to clear your schedule.
April 8th - All singers will be meeting with Mrs. Gibeau at 11:30
April 8th at 11:30. I would like to see Abe, Kody, Caleb H, Drew, Aliesia, Katherine - working on scene 4, 6, 8 and maybe part of 10. Bring your questions. Blocking and gestures were way off on Monday. Please practice this with your lines. Kody, work your lines hard. Actors call me if you can't make this rehearsal at 11:30 or need to come later.
Stephen and Ryan - I would like you there at 12:30 on April 8th. We may run scene 7 if you are able to get set up in time. I expect all sound to be fully operational. Use 2 computers and Stephen get the backup to Ryan.
Cast please review the scene changes, so you know where and when to be on. It will become clearer as we go through, BUT YOU MUST REVIEW.
Cast - bring quiet things to do backstage - it cannot be a general chat session back there.
Depending on how Monday goes, I would like to consider Wed. aft., the 10th as a backup extra rehearsal or Tuesday the 16th. Please check your calendars and let me know Monday.
Many of you are working very hard and I appreciate that - just the final push to a great show that glorifies the Lord.

Many of you are working very hard and I appreciate that - just the final push to a great show that glorifies the Lord.

Tomorrow the 25th
Just a heads up that tomorrow is a huge day of rehearsal for the whole cast. Some of you that maybe have been sitting on the edges a bit, will not be doing so tomorrow. There are plenty of crowd scenes and also we are "creating scenes" between the scenes in order to do the set changes. So I will see the whole cast tomorrow promptly at 1:00. And remember to be praying for the safe return of our basketball team members through the snow.

Update your calendars - Final dress and more
Hello cast and crew - here is an update and an FYI for your calendars.
The final dress rehearsal on Friday, April 19th will begin promptly at 11 and run until 2:30. This is to assist students attending a track meet and people leaving town. I had to move it back 2 hours because 2 of our high school cast members take some morning classes at public school.
Monday, April 22 performance at Hartford High School in their Drama Lecture Hall. Call time is 4:00, show begins at 7:00
Call time for Wooded Hills Church on Wednesday, April 24 is also 4:00, as some scenes will need to be reworked.
Keep Tuesday and Thursday of performance week open as there may be a performance scheduled at the Boys and Girls Club.
I do not yet know when the setup/run through will be at CrossWay yet. Please keep the day free.

Props from Granpa's garage still needed
We still need these props:
A silver carafe - could be just a glass one spray painted.
a leather trifold "wallet" about 5" x 8" - flat with no modern clasps - the sheik's business bag.
Circular, square or rectangular table top about 3 feet in diameter or across. We have the Roman looking bottom, but need a wooden top. This can be any color wood. The table will not be injured by attaching to the legs.
We still need pieces of brown/tan leather or leather looking vinyl.
